Everyday for the preacher but one day for the sinner. This sentence indicates that the preacher never ceases to preach, surely a day shall come when his message will change a sinners life. Just as the saying goes " everyday for the thief but one day for the owner. The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full (John 10:10). Which means the thief robs a home today, rapes, steals, kills and goes home. Next time he robs, steals, destroys and also escape but a day comes he goes to steal but never comes back. That day is the owners day, the owner catches him, and there is no way out for him this time. Note: he continued the act of stealing until the act made him to be caught. So the preacher always continue preaching in other for him to win more souls.
This statement "Everyday for the preacher but one day for the sinner" consist of two vital parts namely:
Everyday for the preacher.
One day for the sinner.
This part also consist of two main points; Everyday and the preacher.Everyday means a daily act, doing something over and over again. Why a preacher is a person who preaches the word of God. A preacher can either be a man or a woman. The preacher's main aim is to win souls for our Lord Jesus Christ, A preacher is not called because of the righteous but rather for the sinners. Now everyday for the preacher means a continual spreading of the gospel without relenting because that is why he is a preacher. His word says; So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.(Romans 10:17). Since faith comes by hearing the word of God, the more a sinner hears the word, the greater the chance and advantage of activating his faith.
One day for the sinner.
This is the day the words the sinner has been hearing becomes too powerful and very meaningful that he forsake his old ways and surrender all to God. The preacher hasn't been talking to himself all this while, even though the sinner has not been putting the preachers word into action, he definitely has been hearing the word. From my experience, every message might not be for everybody but is definitely for somebody. Maybe this person the message is for has been ignorant, but when it is his day, he just can't resist it. Speaking from experience, let me share a testimony about my own day. On that faithful day, i went to bar with my friend, i requested for energy drink although my friend knew me to be a good lover and consumer of alcohol but before then i have taken a bottle of bear(star) in another friends place who was celebrating, who was even shock to see me in that act. This other friend bought two energy drink (Bullet) but before i could finish it, he ordered for two can bear (star) and meats. Instead of refusing i happily ate and drank all the alcoholic drinks. After i left there, i went for an evening program because that day was on Sunday but the message my pastor preached was as if i have never heard that kind of message before. He projected a video on a screen and talked about the Illuminati and the exposition of celebrities who sold their souls to Lucifer in exchange for fame and wealth, preachers who're working for the devil in disguise. What baffles me till today is that i have not only heard about these people, I've also listen to sermon and messages about them before, but that very day when my pastor was preaching, what i was hearing was so different and unusual, i think what i heard was different and more powerful than what other heard. I realized, that messaged was ordained for me. It was God who spoke to me through my pastor, to me that day is still much on my mind just like yesterday. That is my story of how God touched me.
The preacher passes the message but it is God who touch the heart of a sinner.
Opponents must be gently instructed, in the hope that God will grant them repentance leading them to a knowledge of the truth,(2 Timothy 2:25).
It is God who grants repentance, and also leads the heart of man to acknowledge the truth.
It is God who grants repentance, and also leads the heart of man to acknowledge the truth.
No, my sons! For it is not a good report that I hear. You make the Lord’s people transgress. If one man sins against another, God will judge him. But if a man sins against the Lord, who will intercede for him?” Nevertheless they did not heed the voice of their father, because the Lord desired to kill them..(1 Samuel 2:24-25).
Hophni and Phinehas, sons of Eli the priest are the people being discussed here by their father in the beginning of these verses. Note the ending part of the last verse " because the Lord desired to kill them" it is God who makes man heed to the voice of preachers.
Everyone that the Father has given to me will come to me, and the one that comes to me I will by no means cast out. (John 6:37).
Jesus said; Everyone that the Father has given to him, meaning repentance is a gift of God.
Early in the morning, Jesus stood on the shore, but the disciples did not realize that it was Jesus. He called out to them, “Friends, haven’t you any fish?” “No,” they answered. He said, “Throw your net on the right side of the boat and you will find some.” When they did, they were unable to haul the net in because of the large number of fish (John 21:4-6).
In this verses, the throwing of the net was by the disciples, Jesus gave them the command but catching the fishes was not their doing but the Lords doing. For example, if preachers are the disciples, the net thrown is the gospel, then the catching becomes the winning of souls.
It is God who touches the heart of man, not men. A preacher's duty is to preach the gospel, but for the gospel to be obeyed is of God. When a servant of God preaches from the alter, the congregation hears everything the preacher says, but not everyone gets the message clearly, but in terms of physical hearing they hear the audible voice of the preacher but not everything they hear gets into their memory. Some will get the message but out of ignorance they loose it by not putting it into action, because the words we hear generates a thought, but unless we give that thought an attention, it dies and fade away just like that.
